Slaves of the Undead Brain

Okay, we've had an undying brain, a buried brain, and today we unleash the "Slaves of the Undead Brain", from the January 1955 issue of The Beyond #30, ...and incidently, this story comes from the very last issue of this super great Ace Magazines series (it was only a matter of time after The Beyond #27 was left burned and smoldering in the "Seduction of the Innocent" witchhunt.) This concludes "Brain Fest 2011", as well as all THOIA posts for February 2011, hope you enjoyed it-- see ya's next month!

The Buried Brain

In case you missed the memo, we're in the middle of a "Brain Fest" here at THOIA... and here's a cool 'n creepy entry from ACG fan fave Ogden Whitney, from the Jan. '52 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #27 (actually this tale is totally brainless, but still fun.)

The Undying Brain

How about another tale from the April 1951 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #18, and because it's been awhile since we've had a multi-post theme around here, this will be the start of a bunch of bloody brain stories to gently carry us out of February 2011.

The Halls of Horror

From the April 1951 issue of Adventures into the Unknown #18, comes this weirdly exciting kooky spooker, and crisply illustrated by Emil Gershwin, a guy whose style seems a bit ahead of its time (there really are quite a few excellent panels in this one!) I totally need to do a spotlight on him one of these days.

Love Story / A Real Dish

A couple of stories about love and hunger for everyone on Valentine's Day, both from the awesome "DARK TALES" ('91) collection by Jordi Bernet and Sanchez Abuli (the masterful creators behind the super stunning "Torpedo 1936" gangster series.) ADULTS ONLY!

The Face on the Floor

Time now to finish up with the last, but most certainly not least, of the stories from the September 1952 issue of The Tormented #2. You've seen THOIA post some crazy ass tales here over the last three years, but what in the world could possibly prepare you for a story about a killer mop? Well, there's a little more to it than just that, but here ya go... (and once again, thanks to Brian Hirsch for the scans of this entirely great issue!)
