Scarecrow’s Revenge

Here in the midwest scarecrows go hand in hand with Halloween as much as ghosts, goblins, black cats, and toilet paper in the trees. And if it’s a Rudy Palais story with a tricky killer scarecrow then you know you’re in for a spooky treat.

From the Sept 1952 issue of Witches Tales #14

NEAT STORY. NOT REALLY ONE OF THE BETTER PALAIS TALES YOU'VE POSTED HERE BUT I GUESS YOU'RE STILL TRYING TO FIND HALLOWEEN THEMES TO POST EVEN THOUGH THIS ONE DOESN'T REALLY MENTION ITS STILL GOT THE FALL FEEL.

I sort of agree with the previous comment, but damn any Palais story is still worth it's weight in gold.

Agree with the previous two comments,Palais could have turned out more disgusting work than this, but it still lends weight to my argument about how venegance, justice and class struggle were viewed in Harvey stories, like in THE SEWER MONSTERS post.

I actually had a couple different "scarecrow" type stories pulled, but this was the best of the lot. I just found another Sleepy Hollow-ish story too from Atlas but I think I'll save it for next year.

big goof on the last page, the zombie falls down facing one direction but then in the next panel in the morning he's facing the other direction

looks like palais forgot to color in some blood in the second panel on the same page too
