I Married A Witch

Speaking of Halloween movie classics, here’s an appropriately themed photo of gorgeous, peekaboo blonde actress Veronica Lake in a witch costume. This is most likely a publicity shot from one of her best non-noir films called I Married A Witch (1942), a great film that was supposedly the inspiration for the Bewitched TV series.

Agreed with anonymous!

By the way... it's been a long time since I've seen IMAW, but there were quite a few elements in it that strongly reminded me of Bewitched, so I can easily see it as being a major influence.

Bewitched was definitely inspired by I Married a Witch, 22 years later but inspired none the less.

Does anyone have copies of any of the mystery TV stuff Lake did in the 50's for TV shows like Lights Out, Tales of Tomorrow, Danger etc...?

Oooo la la! Guess I need to see more Veronica Lake movies! Any other reccomendations where to start aside from this witch movie?

>reccomendations where to start

I'd definitely start with the noir films that made her famous, like This Gun for Hire (1942) or The Blue Dahlia (1946.) The Glass Key (1942) and Sullivan's Travels (1941) are both great classic films too. If you wanna see her hitting rock bottom just 3 years before she died then check out Flesh Feast (1970), but it's really more depressing than anything.
